New York History

In this post you will be reading about history of New York. You will learn about and its historical sites, history, and weather. So.... Read on!
The first Europeans to claim New York was the Dutch. They called their new land New Netherlands. Britain had taken over New Netherlands because of a surprise attack and they had more troops than New Netherlands. When Britain had taken over New Netherlands they originally called it New Amsterdam, but they changed the name to New York to honor the Duke of York.
New York is one of the original 13 colonies. It is a state in the northeastern region of the United States. New York is the nations 3rd most populous state and statehood on July 26, 1788. The state capital is Albany  and  the state's nickname is the Empire State
New York has many historical sites such as sites such as the Empire state building, statue of liberty and twin towers. The reason why they built the Empire state building because Americans felt taunted of the Eiffel Tower when they had finished building it. It was 1250 feet! The statue of liberty was delivered and was built in 1884. The twin towers were built in 1973. I think New York is the best place in the world.
